The Almaden Radio Club (ARC) is proud to be a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to fostering a dynamic amateur radio community in South San Jose and beyond. Together, we are building a robust VHF and UHF communications infrastructure that empowers amateur operators to connect, collaborate, and respond to challenges.
Our repeaters serve as vital hubs for engaging discussions, exciting events, demonstrations, and crucial emergency communications. We enthusiastically welcome new amateur radio operators, offering mentorship and support to help them master their radios. Our repeaters are open to all amateur operators—your voice matters!
We are actively seeking donations to enhance our capabilities by upgrading antennas and expanding the functionalities of our WA2IBM repeater site.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we successfully completed Phase I in August 2023, replacing outdated equipment from the 1970s and 1980s with cutting-edge technology. Our new 2M, 220, and 440 repeaters, along with an upgraded controller, are now interconnected for seamless teamwork during nets and emergencies.
As we move into Phases II and III, our vision expands further! We are excited to add vital features such as digital support and Voice Over IP (VoIP), implement DC power distribution with backup batteries, incorporate solar charging, and refurbish or install new antennas to ensure reliability. To bolster our emergency communications, we are also exploring the introduction of a VARA FM digipeater and an AREDN link.
